Can infrared ray go through the wall?

In the movie The Man from Macau II, the bandit hiding in the woods monitors the situation in the villa with an infrared thermal imager. The equipment of the bandit is quite advanced, comparable to that of the special forces. What's more amazing is that there is no burden to go through the wall!

Infrared thermal imaging uses photoelectric technology to detect the infrared specific band signal of thermal radiation of object surface, and converts the signal into an image that can be distinguished by human eyes. Human body is a natural infrared radiation source, which can continuously emit and absorb infrared radiation to the surrounding. It is easy to “see”the human body even in total darkness by thermal imager when there is no shielding on it. But if the person is behind the wall, what you can see through the thermal imager will be the wall itself but not the person. Therefore, when using infrared thermal imaging equipment to monitor the house, it can check from the wall outside whether the wall is leaking, but it is a big bug in the movie that you can see through the wall.
