Infrared Thermal Imaging into Livestock Breeding

With the continuous maturity of infrared thermal imaging technology, its application in animal husbandry is becoming increasingly wide. Infrared thermal imaging technology can achieve temperature screen with non-radiation, long distance and wide range, helping people rapidly identify animals with abnormal temperature and cut off the spread of the epidemic, providing a more scientific breeding method for traditional farms.

1. Disease prevention and control

Infrared thermal imaging plays an important role in swine fever prevention and control, it can continuously monitor temperature and collect image information of live pigs in 24 hours, and it will not interfere with their activities, greatly improving the efficiency of epidemic prevention.

2. Inspection of enclosure environment

Infrared thermal imaging can inspect the environment parameters such as temperature and humidity, convenient for breeders to adjust the ventilation and temperature, providing a good and comfort growth environment for poultry in order to improve breeding efficiency. Infrared thermal imaging can inspect safety hazards of the enclosures, such as water seepage, circuit failure, lack of airtightness.

3. Detection mating period detection

Using infrared thermal imaging to inspect the temperature changes of sows before and after ovulation, this can accurately find the most suitable mating period and improve the litter size of sows.

4. Detection of mastitis in cows

Mastitis is a common disease in cows, which can lead to decreases in milk production and quality. Because inflammation can cause temperature rise, infrared thermal imaging is able to identify individuals with mastitis in the cow herds, and beneficial for timely treatment and early prevention of cows by breeders.

5. Evaluation of breeding results

Infrared thermal imaging can monitor food intake and exercise states of the poultry, helping breeders to evaluate effect of the breeding plan, improve breeding efficiency and reduce the losses.

Nowadays, the development of animal husbandry towards digital and intelligence is the trend, the application of infrared thermal imaging technology will be wider.
